SAHM I am

I love being a SAHM. I hope all the other SAHMs out there who have never worked, appreciate it as much as I do. Today, we were able to assist Grandma at the Zoo. She had planned a trip with all the cousins that was maybe a little too optimistic. I don't think she would have survived without me. There were only 2 meltdowns and afterwards I thought, "yes, I would do that again", which always means good things.

International Peace Gardens

"W" had his nine month check-up today. He is 21 lb. 15 oz. and 29 1/4 inches. He was so good and didn't cry for his heel prick or his shot. Afterwards we went to take pictures at the International Peace Gardens. He loves outside, and therefore loved every minute of it.

I recently started playing around with Photoshop Elements. I am pretty intimidated by it and worried I will do something I won't like and then won't know how to undo it. (Yes, I know it's not permanent, I'm just weird like that.) So, I stick with auto buttons........for now.

9 Months

"W" is nine months old today. He loves blocks and balls and outside. He's not interested in much else. I thought he looked like he grew a couple inches overnight when I looked at him this morning.

Oh yeah, one more thing. We put our house up for sale this week. I have mixed emotions on that one, so I'll just leave it at that. (PS I created a website with pics of the house, if anyone is interested, e-mail me or else it's on the flyers)

Fruits of My Labor

As some of you may know, "W" never would breastfeed. I had to pump and bottle feed for 7 months. (Wow, I'm glad that's over.) Anyway, I worked my little tail off freezing lots of extra milk (600 or more ounces, to be specific), so that "W" would still have milk after I was done pumping. Um, well, let's just say he's a picky eater. After all that hard work, he rejected the frozen milk. One taste of formula and that was it. I was so sad. I had worked so hard. And our deep freeze had been overrun. Luckily, I came across someone's name who worked with frozen breastmilk donations. So, here is a picture of the cute little adopted baby who will be receiving my donated breastmilk for the next month or so. One of them, anyway. There is another baby, who will get some, but I don't have a picture of yet.

What's Your's is Mine.......

The babies love each other so much. I am afraid they will have separation anxiety when the Duchess goes home. Here are some photos she took of them earlier today. They have matching Little Mr shirts on.

The Duchess is here visiting. We are having a blast, celebrating motherhood and spending time with loved ones.

1st Mother's Day, 2008

(For Mother's Day I decided I didn't have to do my hair :)

JH is teaching "W" how to suck on a pacifier and "W" is teaching JH how to pick on other babies. They are just as different as they can be and I can see will be the best of friends, just like their mommies.

Uh-oh, Spaghetti-O!

The entertainment factor of spaghetti is excellent. "W" and I were equally entertained. It was originally just supposed to pre-occupy him while I fixed dinner. He left a trail as you can see, even some on the wall. (I know it's not normal to let your child play with food on the floor, but I am patiently waiting for PBTB to complete the highchair.)

Baby Boom

Everyone I know that is pregnant is due right about now or had their baby within the last week. Mostly girls, one boy. I knit this little sweater for some friends of ours that are having their baby sometime next week. It was knit with Jaeger Baby Merino. The photo doesn't do the color justice. It is the perfect buttercup color and I used brown ribbon with little white polka dots. The pattern came from Simple Knits for Cherished Babies. This is the sweetest pattern. I liked it so much I am knitting another one for a different friend having her baby next week. I decided to make it in the larger size. The 0-3 was quite small, hopefully not too small.

Compromise

PBTB and I sold my car from high school a couple of weeks ago. ('98 Mazda Protege) It was originally a graduation present from my parents, but ultimately ended up being PBTB's car. It had been an excellent car, no problems in 10 years. I highly recommend them. It was time to move on. PBTB and I don't necessarily agree on our choice of vehicles, but with a compromise we ended up with a 2004 Dodge Durango Hemi. PBTB would, of course, have chosen some sort of pickup truck. I, on the other hand, prefer foreign designed cars (girls always choose style over function). It had to be strong enough to pull our boat, but I also insisted that it had an extra row of seats. We were looking at some GMC Yukons, but I am happy to say that we ended up with something smaller. I really liked the Toyota Sequioa and Jeep Commander, but they weren't strong enough to pull the boat. I really miss my Land Rover Discovery, but PBTB says no way, never again (something about being too expensive to fix) PBTB loves his new car, which is the most important and I was more than happy with the awesome deal we got ($2500 below low book) I was hoping for a sunroof and DVD player, but at least it has leather. With the money we saved I am sure we could add these. It is not my favorite color (how do we keep ending up with silver cars and black/grey interior, ahhhhhhh!) A deals a deal, I guess.
